lords and masters
Those who rule
Lords and masters refers to those who hold authority or control over others.
The phrase often carries an ironic or resentful tone when describing people who act imperiously or expect unquestioning obedience: I'll have to check with my lords and masters before I can approve that.
It may describe actual power holders or mock those who behave as if they were.
