local chapters
Area-based affiliate organizations
Local chapters are regional branches of a larger organization, allowing members to meet and coordinate activities within their geographic area.
National nonprofits, professional associations, and advocacy groups typically organize this way: The Sierra Club has local chapters in most major cities.
A chapter maintains connection to the parent organization while operating with some autonomy.
