license agreements
Software permission documents
License agreements are legal contracts that grant permission to use something—software, intellectual property, a trademark—under specified conditions.
They spell out what you can and can't do: how many devices, whether you can modify or redistribute, how long access lasts.
The familiar "click to accept" boxes on software installations are license agreements, typically unread: I scrolled past the license agreement and clicked Accept.
