library archive

Stored collection space

A library archive is a collection of historical documents, records, or rare materials preserved within a library for research and posterity.

Unlike circulating collections, archives typically contain unique primary sources—manuscripts, photographs, institutional records, personal papers—that require special handling and access restrictions.

The university's library archive holds letters from the founding faculty.
