A lean-to shelter is a simple structure with a single-pitched roof that slopes in one direction, typically propped against a tree, rock face, or support poles.
The design is among the most basic in outdoor sheltering—one side open, the other angled to deflect wind and rain: We built a lean-to shelter from fallen branches and pine boughs.
