lead singles
First released songs
A lead single is the first song released from an upcoming album, chosen to generate buzz and set expectations for the full project.
Record labels typically select tracks they believe will perform well commercially or receive significant radio play.
The band dropped their lead single two months before the album release.
The term distinguishes this promotional first release from subsequent singles that follow.
