lavers
Welsh cuisine seaweeds
Lavers is the plural of laver, a word with two distinct meanings.
One laver is an edible seaweed, especially the type used in Welsh cuisine to make laverbread.
The other laver is a basin for washing, particularly the ceremonial basin used by priests in ancient Jewish temples: The priests washed their hands in the laver before approaching the altar.
