lamb of God

Divine paschal offering

Lamb of God is a title for Jesus Christ in Christian theology, portraying him as a sacrificial offering for humanity's sins—an image drawn from the practice of animal sacrifice in ancient Judaism.

The phrase appears in liturgy, hymns, and scripture: Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

Lamb of God is also an American heavy metal band formed in 1994.
