knocking out
Putting to sleep
Knocking out is rendering someone unconscious, especially with a blow: The punch knocked him out cold.
In boxing, a knockout ends the fight.
Extended uses describe overwhelming someone emotionally or impressing them greatly: That dress knocked me out.
To knock yourself out is to exhaust yourself through effort, or sarcastically, to go ahead: You want to try? Knock yourself out.
