knickknack

Small ornamental object

A knickknack is a small decorative object of little value, the kind that accumulates on shelves and mantels: The curio cabinet was full of knickknacks from her travels.

The word carries a faintly dismissive tone—treasured heirlooms aren't usually called knickknacks.

Also spelled knick-knack.
