killer clown
Homicidal circus performer
A killer clown is a clown who murders, or a murderous figure dressed as a clown—exploiting the contrast between cheerful costume and violent intent.
The image appears in horror films, urban legends, and occasional real crimes.
The 2016 killer clown sightings sparked widespread panic across the United States.
Serial killer John Wayne Gacy, who performed as a clown at children's parties, cemented the archetype.
