kick drums
Pedal-struck percussion cylinders
Kick drums are the large bass drums in a drum kit, played with a foot pedal.
The term emphasizes the physical action of the drummer's foot striking the pedal to produce the deep, low-frequency thump that anchors most popular music: The kick drums on that track hit hard.
Also called bass drums.
