cross-stick
Cradling tool's name
A cross-stick is a drumming technique where the stick is laid across the snare drum head with one end resting on the rim, then struck to produce a clicking sound.
The technique creates a quieter, more delicate tone than a standard rimshot, commonly used in jazz, ballads, and Latin music: The drummer played cross-stick through the verse.
