keycard locks
Swipe-activated door security
Keycard locks are door locks opened by a plastic card rather than a metal key.
The card contains encoded data—on a magnetic stripe, chip, or RFID tag—that the lock reads to grant or deny access.
Hotels and offices use them because cards can be programmed, deactivated, and tracked: I left my keycard in the room.
