kelvins
Absolute temperature units
Kelvins are units of temperature measurement in the SI system, starting from absolute zero—the point where molecular motion theoretically ceases.
Unlike Celsius or Fahrenheit, kelvins don't use the degree symbol: Water freezes at 273.15 kelvins.
Scientists prefer kelvins for calculations because the scale has no negative values.
Named after physicist Lord Kelvin.
