jetes

Airborne dance moves

Jetes is the plural of jeté, a ballet leap where the dancer springs from one foot and lands on the other.

The word comes from French meaning "thrown"—the dancer throws one leg out while jumping.

Grand jetés are dramatic split leaps across the stage: The dancer executed a series of jetes across the floor.
