jaw alignment
How jaws meet
Jaw alignment refers to how the upper and lower jaws meet when the mouth closes.
Proper alignment means the teeth fit together correctly and the jaw joints function smoothly.
Misalignment can cause problems with chewing, speaking, or breathing, and may lead to pain or uneven tooth wear.
Orthodontists and oral surgeons address jaw alignment through braces, appliances, or surgery.
