internal exam
Assessment from within
An internal exam is a medical examination where a doctor inserts fingers or instruments into a body cavity—typically the vagina or rectum—to assess organs by touch.
A pelvic exam checks the uterus and ovaries; a rectal exam can detect prostate abnormalities.
In academic contexts, internal exam refers to a test administered by one's own institution rather than an external examining body.
