instatement

Putting into position

Instatement is the act of placing someone in a position or office.

The word appears most often in its negative form, reinstatement—restoring someone to a position they previously held: She filed for reinstatement after her wrongful termination.

Plain instatement, without the "re-," is rare but means the initial installation: His instatement as director takes effect Monday.
