injury timeout
Pause for wounds
An injury timeout is a stoppage in a sports game when a player is hurt, allowing medical staff to assess or treat the injury on the field.
The clock stops and play resumes only after the player leaves or is cleared to continue.
In some sports, the injured player's team may be charged the timeout: They're down to one timeout after that injury timeout in the third quarter.
