inheritance claims
Heir legal demands
Inheritance claims are legal assertions of a right to receive property or assets from a deceased person's estate.
Someone files an inheritance claim when they believe they're entitled to a share that hasn't been recognized—perhaps as an overlooked heir, a beneficiary under a disputed will, or a creditor of the estate: Several distant relatives filed inheritance claims after the millionaire died without a will.
The term also appears in computing, where classes inherit properties from parent classes.
