infield hits
Slow rollers, legs
An infield hit is a base hit where the ball stays within the infield—typically a slow grounder, chopper, or swinging bunt that the batter outruns before fielders can make the throw.
Speed is essential; infield hits reward fast runners who can beat out plays that would retire slower batters: He leads the league in infield hits.
