inferior turbinate
Airway's bony ridge
The inferior turbinate is a bony structure inside the nasal cavity, one of three shelf-like projections (turbinates or conchae) that warm, humidify, and filter inhaled air.
It's the largest of the three and most responsible for nasal airflow resistance.
Swelling of the inferior turbinates causes much of the congestion associated with allergies and colds.
