index pages
Book's alphabetical directory
Index pages are pages in a book or document that list topics, names, or terms alphabetically with their corresponding page numbers, allowing readers to locate specific content quickly.
In web contexts, an index page is often the default landing page of a website or directory—the page a server returns when no specific file is requested.
The index pages at the back of the textbook were more useful than the table of contents.
