immunity deal
Charges dropped agreement
An immunity deal is an agreement in which a prosecutor grants legal protection from criminal charges in exchange for cooperation—typically testimony against others.
The person receiving immunity can speak freely without their statements being used against them: She took the immunity deal and testified against her former boss.
Such deals help prosecutors build cases against higher-value targets.
