house red
Menu's default wine
A house red is the default red wine offered at a restaurant or bar, typically sold by the glass at a lower price than named bottles.
It's usually a simple, drinkable wine the establishment buys in quantity: I'll just have a glass of the house red.
The white equivalent is house white.
