house bill
Congressional legislative proposal
A house bill is proposed legislation introduced in the lower chamber of a bicameral legislature—in the U.S., the House of Representatives as opposed to the Senate.
Bills are designated by chamber: House Bill 47 passed committee review yesterday.
The term applies similarly to state legislatures with two chambers.
