horse collaring
Dangerous tackle method
Horse collaring is a football penalty for tackling a player by grabbing the inside back collar of their shoulder pads or jersey and yanking them down.
The tackle is dangerous because it can cause serious leg and ankle injuries.
The NFL banned it in 2005: He was flagged for horse collaring the quarterback.
