homogenisation

Blending into sameness

Homogenisation is the British spelling of homogenization—the process of making things uniform or consistent throughout.

In food processing, homogenisation breaks fat globules into smaller particles so they stay suspended rather than separating: Homogenisation keeps the cream from rising in milk.

More broadly, it describes any blending that eliminates variation: the homogenisation of global culture.
