holstering
Returning to case
Holstering is the act of putting a firearm into its holster—the fitted case worn on the body to carry a handgun.
The term extends to any similar securing motion: After the traffic stop, the officer went back to holstering his weapon.
Figuratively, holstering can mean standing down or withdrawing from confrontation: Time to start holstering that temper.
