Site commemoration panel
A historical plaque is a flat marker, usually metal or stone, mounted on a building, monument, or post to commemorate a significant person, event, or site: The historical plaque noted that Lincoln had slept in the house.
Most bear brief inscriptions explaining the location's significance.
Cities and heritage organizations install them to mark places of local or national importance.
