historical lexicon
Dated word collection
A historical lexicon is a dictionary or vocabulary collection documenting words as they were used in a particular period or language stage.
It records meanings, spellings, and usages that may have shifted or disappeared: a historical lexicon of Old English, consulting the historical lexicon for medieval legal terms.
The term also refers more broadly to the vocabulary available to speakers at a given point in history.
