historical districts
Preserved urban areas
Historical districts are areas officially designated for preservation because of their architectural, cultural, or historical significance.
Such designations typically restrict demolition and regulate exterior modifications to maintain the area's character: The neighborhood was added to the National Register of Historical Places as a historical district.
Property owners within historical districts may face renovation restrictions but often qualify for tax incentives.
