hip roofs
Four-sided roof style
A hip roof slopes downward on all four sides, meeting at a ridge or point at the top.
Unlike gable roofs, which have vertical triangular ends, hip roofs have no flat faces—every side angles down toward the walls.
This design resists wind better and appears on many traditional and colonial-style houses: The bungalow had a low hip roof with wide eaves.
