hip implant
Artificial femoral head
A hip implant is an artificial device surgically placed to replace a damaged hip joint, typically due to arthritis, fracture, or degenerative disease.
The procedure, called hip replacement or hip arthroplasty, substitutes the ball-and-socket joint with metal, ceramic, or plastic components: She's had both hips replaced with implants.
Modern hip implants generally last twenty to thirty years.
