Get a message

To hear from someone is to receive communication from them—a letter, call, text, or other contact: I haven't heard from my brother in months.

The phrase often implies awaited or expected contact: Let me know when you hear from the hiring manager.

To hear from can also mean to receive a response or reaction: You'll be hearing from my lawyer.
