health safety
Occupational hazard prevention
Health safety refers to practices, regulations, and conditions that protect people from injury, illness, or hazards—especially in workplaces, public spaces, and institutions.
The phrase often appears in compound form: health and safety regulations, health and safety officer.
In British English particularly, "health and safety" has become shorthand for bureaucratic caution, sometimes invoked dismissively: They cancelled the event for health and safety reasons.
