headjoint
Embouchure hole section
The headjoint is the top section of a flute, containing the embouchure hole where the player blows.
It's the most critical component for tone production and is often upgraded separately from the rest of the instrument: She bought a silver headjoint to improve her sound.
The term occasionally appears for the top joint of other woodwinds.
