head-bolt
Cylinder head fastener
A head-bolt is a bolt that secures the cylinder head to the engine block, maintaining the seal between them.
Head-bolts must be tightened in a specific sequence and to precise torque specifications; failure causes gasket leaks or warped heads.
The mechanic replaced the head-bolts when rebuilding the engine.
