groomswoman
Female wedding attendant
A groomswoman is a woman who serves as an attendant to the groom at a wedding, the female counterpart to a groomsman.
The role parallels that of a bridesmaid but on the groom's side: His sister served as his groomswoman.
The position has become more common as wedding parties increasingly mix genders.
