gregorian
Modern calendar type
Gregorian refers to things associated with Pope Gregory, most commonly the Gregorian calendar—the standard calendar used throughout most of the world, introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 to correct drift in the Julian calendar.
Gregorian chant is the traditional plainsong of the Roman Catholic Church, named for Pope Gregory I.
The Gregorian calendar replaced the Julian system. (Capitalized Gregorian is standard; lowercase is nonstandard.)
