gray rock
Boring becomes protection
Gray rock is a strategy for dealing with manipulative, narcissistic, or emotionally abusive people by becoming as uninteresting as possible—like a dull gray rock.
The technique involves giving flat, noncommittal responses, avoiding emotional reactions, and sharing nothing personal: I've been gray rocking my ex whenever we have to discuss the kids.
The goal is to bore the difficult person into losing interest in you as a target.
