gravel trail

Crushed stone route

A gravel trail is a path surfaced with loose crushed stone rather than pavement or natural dirt.

Common in parks, rural areas, and cycling routes, gravel trails offer a middle ground between paved paths and rugged terrain: The gravel trail wound through the forest for six miles.

They drain well but require sturdier tires than smooth pavement.
