grain belt
Cereal crop zone
A grain belt is a region where grain crops—especially wheat, corn, or other cereals—dominate agricultural production.
In the United States, the Grain Belt typically refers to the Great Plains states from Kansas through the Dakotas: Drought in the grain belt sent wheat prices soaring.
Other countries have their own grain belts wherever climate and soil favor large-scale cereal farming.
