golden pheasant
Bright Asian fowl
A golden pheasant is a brilliantly colored game bird native to the mountains of central China.
The male has a golden-yellow crest, bright red body, and an orange-and-black striped cape that fans during courtship displays.
Females are mottled brown, camouflaged for nesting.
Popular in aviaries and ornamental collections: A pair of golden pheasants strutted across the garden.
