gelatin silver print
Classic photographic print
A gelatin silver print is a photographic print made on paper coated with light-sensitive silver salts suspended in gelatin.
Developed in the 1870s, this process dominated black-and-white photography for over a century.
The term now appears mainly in museum and auction contexts to distinguish traditional darkroom prints from digital or alternative processes: The gallery exhibited vintage gelatin silver prints from the 1930s.
