gearstick
Manual driving control
A gearstick is the lever used to shift gears in a manual-transmission vehicle—called a gear shift or stick shift in American English.
The driver moves the gearstick through a pattern to select gears: She ground the gears fumbling for the gearstick.
The term is primarily British.
