Gas fitting is the work of installing and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and appliances that carry gas—natural gas, propane, or other fuel gases used for heating, cooking, and hot water.
A gas fitting is also any individual component in such a system: valves, connectors, regulators, and the like.
The trade requires certification in most jurisdictions due to the dangers of leaks and explosions.
