game-master
Storyteller with dice
A game-master is the person who runs a tabletop role-playing game, controlling the story, setting, and non-player characters while players control their own characters.
The game-master creates scenarios, adjudicates rules, and narrates outcomes: Our game-master spent weeks preparing the campaign.
Different games use different terms—Dungeon Master in Dungeons & Dragons, Storyteller in World of Darkness—but game-master serves as the generic.
Also spelled gamemaster or abbreviated GM.
