funk rock
Parliament meets distortion
Funk rock fuses the rhythmic, bass-driven grooves of funk with the guitar distortion and energy of rock.
The genre emerged in the 1970s with bands like Parliament-Funkadelic and later influenced groups like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus.
It emphasizes syncopated bass lines, tight drumming, and often playful or provocative lyrics: Their funk rock sound packed dance floors.
